To our valued customers:

We have exciting new mobile initiatives underway at Elsevier.   To make way for the new breed of mobile solutions, we will be decommissioning Pocket Consult effective October 31, 2009.

As a Pocket Consult user, there are a few details you will need to know:

• The website at www.pocketconsult.com will be replaced with a simpler site with reduced functionality on October 31, 2009.  The site will continue to be accessible for one year, but will have limited functionality.
• Any software already installed on users devices will continue to work, but most functionality involving websites such as MD Consult will be eliminated, specifically:
  • Saved searches
  • Journal Table of Contents updates
  • News
  If you are a current MD Consult customer, please to go www.mdconsult.com for information on MD Consult Mobile.
• First Consult will still be supported on the mobile device.  First Consult users will be able to download the PRC file and display it in the mobipocket reader, which will need to be installed separately.
• Users requiring the PocketConsult reader software will no longer install the PocketConsult handheld software, but will instead be directed to the mobipocket.com website to download the reader.  The PocketConsult handheld software currently embeds the MobiPocket reader, now owned by Amazon and used in the Kindle.
• Any books that have been purchased for the PocketConsult platform and have already been downloaded will continue to function properly.
• For the few remaining active books on PocketConsult, users will be able to enter their PIN code and download the book.  They will need to install the mobipocket reader separately.
